    Our story

    Music travels like water.

Carnatic music began in the south of India and crossed the Bay of Bengal with the families who carried it. Sugam Yayasan is the community foundation where that river settles in Malaysia, and Sugam Karnatica is its academy: a community institution first, and a music school because of it.

    Karnatica

The academy: classes and performance in the Carnatic tradition.

    Samskhaaraa

The culture: values and learning passed on to the next generation.

    Faculty

    Still water, clear reflections.

Our gurus teach the way they were taught: patiently, by ear, one phrase at a time.
